Text Box: I believe people come to Lummi Island in the summer for rest and relaxation in the midst of the beauty of God’s creation, yet for those of us who are here all year, it seems like summer is active and full, with all the island organizations switching into a higher gear. The church is no different. July has been full with Vacation Bible School, the Gigantic Tag Sale and Bazaar, work parties, labyrinth walking, and worship each week, including worship on the beach. Our church is a great setting for VBS. We had a wonderful time sharing Text Box: faith and fun with island children! Thank you to so many of you who made this delightful week: teachers, cooks, animal handlers, singers, crafters, parents, and children, and especially to Ingrid McGarry for coordinating all of us with enthusiasm and love. Together we learned to grow peace, joy, love, patience, and kindness, the fruit of the Spirit visible in each of us who follow Christ. Parish Activities Board led the church in taking on a new challenge in revamping the rummage sale with vendors, food, and a wonderful variety of

entertainment. We cleaned out our closets, purchased some great finds, had fun, and even made money for the church at the Tag Sale and Bazaar. Over thirty church members and lots of island folks helped make this event successful. Thank you to each one of you, and especially to Jon Fincke whose vision and perseverance are amazing.

This congregation worships together, works together, and enjoys each other in the process. I am grateful to be in ministry with you as we love and serve God together.
